Hyundai unveiled the IONIQ 6 N, its next-generation electric sports sedan, at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 10. Designed to elevate performance and driving engagement, the IONIQ 6 N features a fully redesigned suspension geometry, advanced N e-shift with shift light indicators, and an upgraded N Drift Optimizer for tailored control. Teaser images and a cinematic video highlight the sedan's aerodynamic design, motorsport-inspired elements, and immersive driving features. Hyundai will showcase the vehicle alongside other N models at a dedicated booth with interactive experiences for visitors.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is another performance EV that can hang with the big boy exotic / performance ICE vehicles for a half the price (or even less!). The Ioniq 6 N is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 257 km/h (160 mph), according to Car and Driver. This is only 0.2 seconds off the 0-100km/h time of the Lamborghini Urus Performance which costs approx. $313,488 CAD. The Ioniq 6 N is set to be priced aroud 1/3 of that, at $100,000 CAD.

I really enjoy the behind the scenes tours and conversations by Sandy Munro with the people behind the brands. This is a great look at Slate from a manufacturing perspective but also from a business perspective too. In this one, Sandy meets up with CEO, Chris Barman and Head of Engineering, Eric Keipper.

Not only does he meet with the executives but he also checks in with Rod Romain, Head of Vehicle Integration to discuss development and perform what Sandy calls a “hoist review”. Check it out!

I’m sounding like a broken record when it comes to Chinese electric vehicles and bringing them to Canada and the US - but here’s just another reason why: The Jiangling SC-01.

It looks like a rocket ship and honestly, had kinda weird body lines with what seem to be random start and stops (plus a bar rear end) - but this affordable Chinese electric vehicle comes in 1,365 kg and starts at $32,000 USD.

Check this out to learn more about the SC-01.

I still dream of affordable Chinese EVs in Canada…

The Kia EV 6 GT takes on the Ferrari Purosangue.

The Kia EV 6 GT comes in with 641hp, weighs 2,200kg costs just under $70,000 CAD.

While the Ferrari Purosangue produces 725hp, weighs 2,150kg and will set you back over $720,000! I didn’t believe it at first, but then I checked AutoTrader.ca and of course, it is indeed over $725,000 and going up to $868,000!

MIND = BLOWN.

Rivian has integrated Google Maps into its navigation system to provide drivers with enhanced routing, real-time traffic updates, and detailed point-of-interest information, all within Rivian’s EV-friendly interface. The system retains Rivian-specific features like range-on-arrival estimates, curated charging stop suggestions, and a unique charging score to assess charger reliability. A new visual design emphasizes natural topography and improves glanceability. These updates are also available in the Rivian mobile app, offering seamless trip planning and destination sharing across platforms.
