Ford is recalling the Mustang Mach-E which apparently can be fixed via a software update but can’t be done over-the-air (OTA) and requries a dealer visit - later this year!

THAT’S FORD ROUGH! NOT FORD TOUGH!

No denying that the Mustang Mach-E is a pretty great EV for the price and what it has to offer. Is Ford behind in the software department though? I mean, it could be argued that every vehicle manufacturer that serves North America is behind Tesla in the way of software.

I don’t think we are out of the woods yet when it comes to legacy automakers scrambling to provide EVs that they believe “people want” but miss the point on software and thinking of the future. It’s a “let’s get something out” mentality instead of planning for the future. Spending money on an EV should come with the peace of mind that the related software is not going to be outdated in a year or two based on technology improvements. OTA updates can provide that peace of mind - BUT ONLY IF the proper hardware and thought behind what the future looks like is taken into consideration.

The motormouth team is in Korea checking out the EV4. One of the EVs that I am most excited to see on the roads, even though it lacks in “OOMPH” and I’m 50/50 on the exterior styling. The main reason I’m looking forward to seeing these on the road is that they should be a decently affordable EV with okay range that will hopefully help with EV adoption.

Few specifications:

  • 201HP for the FWD standard range, no info yet on the AWD.

  • Standard range 58.3 kW battery for the FWD which provides 378km and a 81.4 kw long range version that gives 531 km of range.

  • 0-100 in 7.4s for standard range and 7.7s for long range version.

  • FWD model available in 2026, and AWD models after. Similar to the EV3.

  • 400V architecture.

  • Sedan and hatchback versions - hatchback not available in North America.

The ID BUZZ AD.

“AD” for “Autonomous Driving”.

A company called MOIA, which makes up VW Group’s Ride Sharing Division has been developing this vehicle since 2021 and set to be officially launched sometime in 2026.

We’ve seen a lot of ups and downs in the world of autonomous driving (Waymo, Tesla etc…) so only time will tell regarding the ID BUZZ AD. With that said, I feel like the ID BUZZ AD is the best class of vehicle to be in the ride sharing space as it allows a lot of room, a lot of passengers and seems to be a great platform for businesses who may run them in the “party BUZZ” market.

I enjoy following along with Aptera’s updates as they push towards a production vehicle. It has been quite some time but there’s a lot of work involved in developing a ground-up solar vehicle. The video below is actually to Aptera’s live stream where they will be unveiling their fully built validation vehicle. It’s taking place June 26th at 7:00pm EST.

Aptera will reveal its production-ready solar EV prototype on June 27, 2025. The three-wheeled vehicle offers up to 640 km (400 miles) of range, with solar panels providing up to 40 miles per day under ideal conditions. It uses LG batteries, a Tesla NACS charging port, and a Vitesco in-board motor. After the reveal, Aptera plans a cross-country road trip to validate performance. Reservations are open with a $100 deposit, and deliveries are expected to begin later this year.

Production has been delayed multiple times due to funding issues and design changes - most notably switching from an in-wheel motor to a more conventional in-board version.

Let’s see what Aptera can bring by the end of 2025!

This is a longer video where Emily Chang from Bloomberg Tech sits down with Rivian Founder & CEO, RJ Scaringe.

RJ is a great speaker, great story teller and I believe, a great CEO. I think this is a good watch as they talk about Rivian’s growth, RJ’s thoughts on the Trump administration as well as Musk’s (previously) close relationship with Trump and also about what’s next for Rivian.
