The Nissan Leaf is back! Check out this video on what’s new with the Leaf. Richard Candler, Vice President Global Product Strategy, discusses history, impact and what Nissan is looking towards in the future with the Leaf and e-mobility.

In the development of the new Leaf, they focused on 3 key things:

  1. Balancing the emotional and rational appeal, AKA make it look good.

  2. Support long distance travel with longer range.

  3. Charging made easy and seamless, in 14mins can add over 250km.

The Scout EV. Remember that thing? Well it’s actually slowly becoming a thing and it looks pretty good! Join Andre, as they give a detailed walkaround of the Scout Truck EV called the Scout Terra. The Scout Traveler is the SUV version. Along with a walkaround of the vehicles and describing what makes the Scout vehicles so great, an update on what’s been going on behind the scenes and the specifications. Honestly not a lot of “wow” moments for me as it looks and seems like it always has - I just hope this becomes a true enough thing that people can get their hands on. It’s not set to be out for another couple years, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is absolutely iconic -and this is where the first cybercab lives. Franz con Holzhausen, Tesla’s Chief Designer (he should be familiar to you if you’ve watched any of the Tesla events), gives a walkaround of the Cybercab and the thought process of how the Cybercab can impact society and the choices made in design.

The Motormouth discusses the current state of the EV market in Canada and the U.S. using insights from the latest J.D. Power studies. In Canada, only 28% of new vehicle shoppers are likely to consider an EV, less than half the rate in the U.S. (59%). Canadian interest has remained flat year-over-year but has dropped from 34% in 2023. Rebate pauses have had a notable impact: a federal rebate suspension caused 42% of likely EV shoppers to say it would negatively affect their decision, and Quebec’s temporary rebate pause led to an 8% drop in consideration.

Tesla has fallen from one of the most considered brands to eighth place in Canada, while Toyota, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, and Hyundai now lead in consumer interest. Meanwhile, 75% of Canadians doubt the country will meet its 2035 zero-emissions vehicle target.
